Mother's Day 2013

We have really been enjoying our Summer break! It's so nice to finally have time to just be together as a family.

This past weekend was Mother's Day, and we had so much fun! I got breakfast in bed, then we packed up a backpack and a cooler and set out for the mountains! We ended up going to Red Cliffs Recreation Area where we had a picnic by a stream running through the campgrounds. I wish I had snapped a picture of it, but we were so busy just trying to get the kids to eat that we totally forgot. Oh well. Then we packed up again and took a short hike.

We were originally trying to find the nature trail that has a small waterfall at the end of it, but we couldn't find the trail anywhere (dang it!), so we tried to find the dinosaur tracks instead. However, the trail wasn't marked very well/at all, so we were unable to find those either (double dang it!). But it's ok! We still scaled up a mountain and got to peek over the edge of it.

The pictures really don't do it justice. We were REALLY high up on the edge of a cliff, thus the reason we were clutching to the children for dear life. Vincent got tired pretty easily on the hike but he still stuck it out. However, Eva is such a nature girl!! She refused to let either one of us hold her for the whole hike, and instead she climbed the mountain on her own two feet only holding onto Max's hand. We were so proud!

When we got back to the campground we let the kids play in the stream for a little bit, and they also found the campground's water faucet that they had some fun with.

It's kind of hard to tell, but Eva is giggling like crazy in that last one haha! She had a fabulous time. We all did.

We have a fun schedule for the rest of May, too! Tonight we are going to be taking a tour of Vincent's elementary school! Then on Monday Vincent's best friend Kadon is coming over for Vincent's very first real sleep over! Then of course, we have my little brother Daniel's graduation in a week, and then another trip back to Cedar for Memorial Day a few days after that. It's going to be busy, but lots of fun!

Thanks for spending some time with us!
